GRAMMY-Award-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens stopped by WYEP Studios in May 2018 for a Live & Direct Session with Rosemary Welsch ahead of her show at the Byham Theatre.
During the session, Giddens talks about taking up the mantle of those without a voice, advocating for enslaved individuals and their fight against systemic oppression over generations.
The songs speak to powerful stories from bygone eras as well as modern-day injustices that have stolen lives in streets across the nation.
