WYEP Essential Artist Series: Brittany Howard (tune in March 19)

Brittany Howard is a singular talent. If you witnessed her performance of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2021, you’re aware of her ability to not just sing any variety of genres, but to also turn hearts inside out. Howard can rattle the rafters with her band Alabama Shakes, turn people out on the dance floor with her funky disco, or take on a funkadelic class with total aplomb. She’s a killer guitarist, an emotionally powerful writer and has a voice that can touch the soul.

It's my pleasure to feature Howard as this month’s WYEP Essential Artist. On Wednesday, March 19 we’ll be featuring songs from Howard and Alabama Shakes every hour from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Then at 7 p.m., tune in as we take a deeper dive into her music for an hourlong special.
