Bob Marley has been a cultural icon for more than 50 years. He played a key role in the development of reggae music and brought that music from Jamaica to the rest of the world with a steady stream of hits in the 1970s. Some of those songs were light and breezy, while others were openly confrontational — yet all of them were crafted and created with a vision of love.
Bob Marley's work and ethos have outlived him and will remain relevant and inspiring for generations. His message of love is truly universal and so easy to get lost in, especially when it's dripping with a funky island groove. Dust off the copy of "Legend" you got on your first day of college (fire up the blacklight, too) and join us for a celebration of a truly essential artist.
Tune in on Thursday, Feb. 6 to hear some of Marley's "essential songs!" We'll be playing his tracks ever hour from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and then at 7 p.m., hear a full special by Joey Spehar.
