Kyle Smith, WYEP's music director and the host of WYEP's midday show, is celebrating his 25th anniversary at the station.

Fifteen musicians from the southwestern Pennsylvania region will create musical compositions to be featured in the stations’ on-air and online content.

Many of our longtime listeners and supporters are familiar with the phrase “Where the Music Matters.” With our 50th anniversary coming up, we’ve decided to take our slogan a step further and expand on the core service that we provide to our listeners. WYEP is now the station “Where the Music Comes First.”

WYEP has been nominated as the Best Radio Station in Pittsburgh City Paper‘s Best of PGH Reader’s Poll 2023. Additionally, our own Joey Spehar has once again been nominated for Best Radio DJ.

The chosen artists will be showcased on both station’s websites, WYEP.ORG and WESA.FM, and their compositions will be heard by listeners across our region’s airwaves.

The Teen Recording Project That Rocks is back with Funding from The Grable Foundation

On Monday, May 31, WYEP presents a Pittsburgh Music Marathon. From 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., all of the artists played will be from Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania.

For Bob Dylan's 80th birthday on May 24, WYEP played dozens of covers of his songs by some of Pittsburgh's finest musicians. Catch the ones you missed in the on-demand stream of the Pittsburgh Music Hour.

Throughout the day on Tuesday, May 11, WYEP will start each hour by playing three songs from one of the best albums of 1981.
