Kerem Gokmen
Host, DubmissionProducer and host of Dubmission since 1998, Kerem got his start in radio at a very early age in Istanbul, Turkey. While still a junior in high school in 1993, he started as a DJ and eventually on-air personality at Power FM, one of the country’s first commercial radio stations that played foreign music.
After moving to Pittsburgh in 1995 to attend university, Kerem started at WYEP as an intern in 1997 and started hosting an overnight show on Tuesday nights called Modern Times. He served as assistant music director at the station for a couple of years in the late 90s, and although he now is on-air at the station only during his Dubmission show every late Saturday night, he has remained an active DJ in the Pittsburgh music scene over the last two decades, with a focus on playing mainly vinyl when performing at different venues through the city.
Aside from his endeavors at WYEP, Kerem also serves as the director of the Pittsburgh chapter of Clean Water Action, a national grassroots environmental nonprofit organization, fighting for strong environmental and public health standards as a community organizer. He’s also been happily married for just under 20 years, and is the proud papa of two chow chows.
