What’s Spinning: Week of March 31 — Haim, Chaparelle & Lord Huron

Indie rock trio Haim is back with a dance-ready, bass heavy track; Texas musicians Chaparelle showcase a new playful song, “Inside the Lines;” and Lord Huron wonders what’s possible in life with “Nothing I Need” — here’s what new on rotation on WYEP this week.

Chaparelle, “Inside the Lines”

Zella Day, Jesse Woods, and Beau Bedford are Texas musicians that have formed the band Chaparelle. The playful track is an introduction to the band’s rootsy Texas sound, while Day and Woods pretend to be two lovers trading lines and conversation. It’s fresh and provides a tease for the full length, which is out April 19.

Haim, “Relationships”

The indie rock trio Haim are back with a dance-ready, bass heavy look at “Relationships.” It’s a track that’s reminiscent of Blondie, with lyrics that deal with freedom after living in a relationship that’s run it’s course. It’s Haim’s first new music since the releases of “Women In Music Pt. III.”

snacktime feat. Devon Gilfillian, “Together”

snacktime are a Philly band that gained attention and praise for their free outdoors shows during the Covid pandemic. At the end of winter they teamed up with Phily native, Devon Gilfillian to put out a new version of this excellent that highlights this 6 piece band’s

Lord Huron, “Nothing I Need”

“Nothing I Need” is the second new track from the forthcoming album that begs to ponder questions like: Do we really know what we want or what’s possible in life? Singer Ben Schneider also ponders if there’s any reason to think about the paths we didn’t take, and how life may have changed or turned out because of that.
