Texas musician Leon Bridges returned with a gem of a song, "Peaceful Place," that will be around and relevant for decades. Several others that have been releasing music for few years, and dropped top-notch material this year include Lake Street Dive, Hozier, Waxahatchee, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, and Chuck Prophet.
Musically, this year that featured some new names in Royel Otis, Cassandra Lewis, bby, and Palmyra. They put out everything thing from well-crafted alt pop to cosmic country, high powered indie rock and folk.
Some heritage rockers returned in 2024 to impress from The Black Crowes, The Cure, Phish, and Norah Jones. Mavis Staples proved that she still brings it at age 85, and two bands that had previously only put out EP’s, Brigitte Calls Me Baby and The Heavy Heavy, did not disappoint in putting out some memorable jams to round out a pretty spectacular 2024 in music.
