Pittsburgh Artist of the Week: The Homeless Gospel Choir

Pittsburgh protest punks The Homeless Gospel Choir show us the light at the end of the sadness tunnel on “Pittsburgh Shoes.”

by Joey Spehar

Pittsburgh protest punks The Homeless Gospel Choir released a pair of new songs for the new year with the intention of sparking some hope inside of us for easier days ahead. Paired with “Harrisburg Shoes” on a split EP featuring Asbury Park’s Teenage Halloween, “Pittsburgh Shoes” is a song of celebration and encouragement. Front man Derek Zanetti reminds us there is a bright light at the end of the sadness tunnel we’ve been traveling through for the past 22 months. Zanetti wrote this song for his friends as a reminder that he loves and misses them.
