Pittsburgh Artist of the Week: Lofi Delphi

The lyrics of a Lofi Delphi song can seem pretty personal, touching on the nuances of human relationships.

“Most of my songs are written about relationships and the ebbs and flow of that,” says Becki Gallagher, lyricist for the Pittsburgh band, whose unique brand of catchy, hook-filled indie rock has been earning them fans around town for years now.

Musically, on the other hand, each Lofi Delphi song comes to life piece-by-piece, with everybody contributing something.

“We always start with a piece and we build from there,” Gallagher says. “One of the most exciting parts about writing a song is just seeing where that first part starts to where the song actually ends up. It’s always so exciting.”

Even their producer, Jake Hanner, added a piece of himself to their latest single, “Sweet Sweet.” His backward piano intro sets the stage perfectly for a song about looking back.

“It was exciting to kind of step back and think about how awesome it is to meet someone that you click with and someone that you just want to spend every moment with. All of us have been in long term relationships for years and years and years. You’re never too old to hearken back to a time where things were new and exciting again.”
