Our Impact

WYEP puts the community in community-supported radio. We’re more than just a position on the dial, we are a source for musical enrichment, discovery and education.

Through programs such as Reimagination and the annual Singer-Songwriter competition, we engage southwestern Pennsylvanian musicians of all ages to develop and expose Pittsburgh talent. With on-air features like The Local 913 we connect our listeners with the local music scene and enhance the arts economy in our region.

Additionally, thorough our parent organization, Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting, we participate in Community Food Connections, partnering with area non-profits fighting against food insecurity and using our megaphone to amplify their needs.

Our space at the Pittsburgh Community Broadcast Center nestled within the historic South Side neighborhood is a gathering space for our community. Members join for Live & Direct Sessions; Pittsburgh bands connect with listeners and new fans during the Local 913 Live; and the community joins us to fight hunger via the South Side Soup Crawl and our annual food drive for Hearth.
