WYEP 2019 Reimagination Cd Release Party

91.3 WYEP releases its sixth Reimagination CD at a release party this Saturday, May 18 at Market Square. The event will feature live performances by Reimagination participants, and it is free to attend, starting at 5pm.

WYEP’s Reimagination project connects teen musicians with professional mentors to record and produce their own original music.  The newest release includes 11 bands and solo artists from Western PA, including The Allies, Elias Khouri, King JMP, Lily Harvey, Pierce Dipner, Rachel Leigh, Sloane Simon, Sydney Fantini, Sunburst House Band, This Is The World, and Wild Blue Yonder. Since 2013, the program has engaged with more than 90 area teen musicians, including Urban Pathways Sounds of Steel, Center of Life Youth Jazz Combo, Grammy Award-winning recording artist Daya and many more.

Participants in the program are selected through a competitive application process; they work with a team of professional producers and musicians led by Dana Cannone (The Church Recording Studio) and Greg Joseph (The Clarks). They received studio time at The Church Recording Studio to record and produce their track on the recording, released by WYEP. Other producers involved in this year’s project include Melinda Colaizzi, Brian Edwards, Dave Hidek, Holly Hood, Matt Muckle, Joe Monroe, and Rick Witkowski.
Program participants also attended workshops led by area music professionals and promoters; each also receives the assistance of a team from Point Park University's Sports, Arts and Entertainment Management (SAEM) program in the preparation of a marketing plan and materials. SAEM students also created the liner notes and copy for the CD package.
