Come to the annual German Harvest Festival — Erntefest!
On Saturday, September 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, September 22 from noon to 5 p.m. Old Economy Village will be demonstrating how the Harmonists and other pioneers from the 19th century prepared for the winter months. There will be demonstrations of winemaking, cider making, basket weaving, spinning, canning, beekeeping, and blacksmithing. Visitors can try bread baked in the newly renovated bake oven, butter churning, candle dipping, printing, rope making, and lots more! There will be children’s activities and musical entertainment such as a Swiss strolling minstrel, Wayward Companions (19th c. classical music trio), and the Appalachian Folk Music Club. Don’t forget to try the grape pies that are made from the grapes grown on the historic buildings.  Don’t miss out on this fun two-day festival.
