The second free concert of the group’s 2018-19 season will feature pieces including “Wizards In Winter” by Paul O’Neill and Robert Kinkel and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s “Themes from Romeo & Juliet” to celebrate the season and Valentine’s Day weekend. The program will also include “One Hand, One Heart” by Leonard Bernstein to honor his centennial. For a preview of the concert, join Opus 2 Orchestra Saturday February 16 at 1 or 2 pm at Barnes & Noble 700 Mall Circle Drive, Monroeville. A portion of your purchases at Barnes & Noble will be donated to the orchestra.
Young musicians from all over Pittsburgh's eastern suburbs perform with Opus 2, which is designed to provide performance opportunities and instruction beyond those provided by school and private lessons. Adult mentors and co-learners also play with the group. The director is Megan Martz, orchestra director of the Plum School district and an Opus alumna.
A voluntary donation at the concert's conclusion will support the orchestra's expenses. For more information about Opus, please see opus2strings.wix.com/opus or follow on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
