The 9:13 Buzz with Justin Jacobs

Every Wednesday at 9:13 am, one of our most trusted music aficionados joins me (Cindy Howes) on the Morning Mix to play a couple favorite new songs and share some insight. Today we welcome Justin Jacobs

In case you missed it, here's what Justin played (commentary by JJ):

Regina Spektor "Small Bill$" - Who is cooler than Regina Spektor? Not me, not you, not even Cindy. The New York singer-songwriter has been casually creating some of the catchiest, weirdest, most fun piano-pop for over a decade. If this track is any indication, her upcoming album, Remember Us to Life, should be fantastic. "Small Bill$" is all rubber-band melodies bounding back and forth over a quirky piano loop. Enjoy.

The Felice Brothers "Aerosol Ball" - Speaking of fun, The Felice Brothers are a gang of old friends (and yes, brothers) from upstate New York who create loose, stomping, down and dirty folk music for your next barn dance. The band's 10th album, Life in the Dark, came out this summer, and it's another collection of old time string music in a new school lens, complete with story-songs about shooting a judge and dancing with the belle of the ball. And if these guys come to town, buy yourself a bottle and head to the show.
