Local 913: Chet Vincent
Chet Vincent has been releasing music with his rock band The Big Bend for about a decade. He’s just released a solo album made up of harmony-rich folk songs. He calls his backing band, Biirdwatcher.
"Biirdwatcher came from Googling myself. There is another Chet Vincent out in the world who is a birdwatcher. I really enjoyed reading his articles about the birds he saw. I thought it would be really fun to compress reality and call the studio band for this album Biirdwatcher. There’s two “i’s” in case he doesn’t think it’s fun or funny, which is… a possibility.”
In 2016, Chet was moved by the passing of so many prominent musicians to write “The Forest Needs The Fire.”
“I was feeling sad about losing all these heroes, but also thinking about the plan nature has for removing the tall trees to let other things get oxygen. I thought that was brutal, but it’s also the way it works. It can apply to a lot of other aspects; engrained things being removed, so new things can take root and have their chance to have their day.”
