JD McPherson "Undivided Heart & Soul"

JD McPherson’s music reverentially borrows from early rock & roll, and its predecessors and offshoots. Undivided Heart & Soul was recorded at RCA’s Studio B in Nashville, the same studios that produced great recordings by Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers, and country greats of the 1950s and ‘60s. Using the studio’s vintage equipment, McPherson and his band lay down rocking rhythms and tinkling piano ballads. Producer Dan Molad coaxes a more aggressive stance from McPherson’s vocals and expands the band’s range with ramped-up fuzz guitar and bass. Guest vocalists Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe of Lucius, and Nicole Atkins contribute backing vocals.
