Beth Ditto "Fake Sugar"
Beth Ditto, former frontwoman of the indie punk band Gossip, explodes on her solo debut album Fake Sugar. Her signature powerful voice come through from the first note of “Fire,” the record’s first track and single. Ditto, who is an icon to punks, feminists and the LGTBQ community, polishes up the punk persona that was associated with the early work of her former band. Song topics range from love songs about her wife to a song about the late Alan Vega (of the band Suicide) and beyond. Each song on this guitar-driven album is a different experience and sound for Ditto, with no two songs sounding alike. This dynamic record displays the unique potential for mainstream success for Beth Ditto.
